However, this transformation should not jeopardize the core mission of cities as a concentration of human, social, intellectual, natural, and democratic capital. The hope is that participants will share their knowledge, experience, and concrete cases regarding the concepts, levers, and pace of this transition.<\/p>\n<p>The city of Guimar\u00e3es itself is a remarkable case of reinvention. Founded nearly 900 years ago as the cradle of Portugal, it is today a European icon of urban preservation, with its historic center classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 2012, it was the European Capital of Culture and is currently one of the 100 cities selected by the European Commission for the &#8220;Mission Cities&#8221; initiative, aiming to achieve climate neutrality by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>For this 10th edition, <b>PLURIS<\/b> is partnering with Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Mestre Casais, which, in addition to being a strategic partner, will organize the opening plenary conference of the congress.<\/p>\n<p>The Organizing Committee invites all researchers, academics, students, and professionals to join us in Guimar\u00e3es from <b>October 16 to 18, 2024<\/b>, to participate in <b>PLURIS&#8217;24<\/b>.
